Subnautica: Below Zero - Where to find Diamonds

Diamonds are Subnautica: Below Zero's most valuable resource.

Published on May 17th, 2021

As you begin to progress in Subnautica: Below Zero, you'll start to see one resource pop up in various crafting recipes. That resource is diamond and if you haven't explored too much, you're going to have no idea where to find it on the expansive map.

Luckily, diamonds are about as common as other valuable resources in Subnautica: Below Zero. They're found on various surfaces and are located in specific spots. Fortunately, we know exactly where those spots are so you can skip the exploration and get right to acquiring some diamonds.

Finding diamonds in Subnautica: Below Zero

Diamonds are mainly found in deeper locations, so you need to preferably have a SeaTruck to get down below 200 meters in depth and stay down there for an extended period of time.

The first diamonds you might find are at the Koppa Mining Sites. The first half of the door entrance holds around 3-4 diamonds, which isn't much but it's a start. The next location you want to look at is back near the starting region of Twisty Bridges.

In the deep part of the biome, diamonds can be found in the hydrothermal vents that litter the region. You'll find them on the walls of the vents and they can simply be picked up and added to your inventory.

Other locations for diamonds include:

  • Arctic Spires (ore veins)

  • Crystal Caves

  • Delta Island

  • East Arctic

  • Glacial Basin

  • Thermal Spires

  • Tree Spires

  • West Arctic

Diamonds aren't as commonly found in other locations as they are in the deep part of Twisty Bridges but they can still be there.

For sure-fire diamonds though, you can visit the sea monkeys once you've advanced in the story and they will offer you resources. You can also find them in the world and steal a diamond from them if they're holding one.
